On Beauty and Beasts

February 2, 2007

If there has been one thing I’ve learned in the passing of time and the silence of distances it is this… to let things go; not to hold on to moments or people or God, but to let them continually flow through me. There is such beauty in the world that it’s foolish to try to hold on to it, because if we do, we will be crushed by its wieght and swept away in its flood. The more we grasp it, control it, deny or defame it, we find it elusive in our ugly hands. We are its hunters and in our persuit we must become like it, wear it’s skin, paint ourselves with its blood and walk in its tracks in order to capture it. And as it slips from us again, we realize that beauty now echoes in our spirits, in OUR blood and OUR skin; in our viens we pump its memory; in our minds we are its ghost. and now WE are the hunted.
